About the Comic
This comic series is our way of telling veteran stories the way they really are—funny, blunt, sometimes absurd, and always rooted in lived experience. It's made for those who've served, those who support us, and even civilians who've never set foot on a base but want a peek behind the curtain. Whether you wore the uniform or just know someone who did, there's something here for you. It's raw, it's real, and it's ours.
Our Mission
We kicked this off to better connect with vets who don't make it to the post as often and to introduce VFW Post 7119 to a broader audience in a way that's approachable, engaging, and—let's be honest—more entertaining than another newsletter.
Our Process
Every comic idea is original, pulled from the minds of veterans who've been there, done that, and probably still have sand in their boots. We use AI tools to draw the art because we've got stories, not sketchpads. In the military, we adapt and evolve.
What You'll Find
The themes cover the full spectrum of military and veteran life: VA red tape, deployment chaos, post-service identity shifts, and the eternal drama between old-timers and new blood at the VFW. You'll also find slice-of-life moments, family dynamics, disc golf mishaps, and the kind of gallows humor you only get in a smoke pit or group chat.
What You Won't Find
What you won't find is political soapboxing. There's enough of that out there already. These comics aren't about taking sides—they're about connection, camaraderie, and calling things what they are.
